Commissioning is ongoing at the 9th Unit of Novocherkassk GRES launched in late 2015. Thus, on January 29, 2016, successful integration with the national grid was completed following successful ignition team blowing and brickwork drying. Thereafter, on February 3, 2016, solid fuel was fed to the furnace under trial conditions.
The boiler of such power unit applies the innovative technology of a Fluidized bed combustion (FBC), which has not been presented in our country to date. Such technology allows to burn coal with the deteriorated properties without the use of «back lighting», and reduce harmful emissions without need to use any special gas cleaning systems resulting in significant improvement in economic and environmental performances of the plant.
CJSC SWECO SOYUZ Engineering plays the role of a Customer Engineer in installation of the steam boiler for the power unit. At the final stage, the Company specialists will follow up commissioning operations, as well as quality of as-built documentation.
Commissioning operations will proceed until March, 2016, to be followed by the scheduled putting into operation of the 330 MW power unit. As a result of project implementation, the installed electric power of Novocherkassk GRES will reach 2442 MW.
